Caring For Your Candle

Caring for Your Candle Help Sheet - The Orrville Candle Company LLC

At The Orrville Candle Company LLC, we take pride in crafting quality candles that enhance the ambiance of your space. To ensure that you get the most out of your candles, follow these care tips:

1. Choose Quality Candles:

  • Select our premium candles, handcrafted with care and attention to detail. Quality candles burn evenly and emit a delightful fragrance.

2. Trim the Wick:

  • Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) to prevent excessive soot and uneven burning.

3. Use a Candle Snuffer:

  • Instead of blowing out the candle, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Blowing can cause hot wax to splatter, which is a safety hazard.

4. Burn Time:

  • Allow your candle to burn long enough to create a full melt pool across the top of the candle. This typically takes 1-4 hours, depending on the size of the candle. Burning for shorter periods can cause tunneling.

5. Avoid Drafts:

  • Keep candles away from drafts, as these can cause uneven burning and excessive dripping.

6. Store Candles Properly:

  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as heat and light can affect their color and fragrance.

7. Use Candle Holders:

  • Place your candles in appropriate candle holders or containers to catch any dripping wax.

8. Keep Away from Flammable Materials:

  • Always position candles at least 3 inches (7.6 cm) away from flammable objects, such as curtains, paper, or decorations.

9. Check for Cracks:

  • Before lighting a candle, inspect it for any cracks in the wax or glass. Never use a damaged candle.

10. Burn in Well-Ventilated Areas: - Ensure that the room where you burn candles is adequately ventilated to prevent a buildup of soot and to disperse the fragrance effectively.

11. Don't Leave Unattended: - Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish it before leaving the room or going to bed.

12. Keep Children and Pets Safe: - Keep candles out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidents.

13. Properly Dispose of Candle: - When there's about 1/2 inch of wax remaining, stop using the candle to prevent the container from overheating. Dispose of the candle properly or consider repurposing the container.

14. Reuse and Recycle: - Consider reusing candle containers for other purposes or recycling them when the candle is finished.

By following these tips, you can enjoy the soothing ambiance and fragrance of your candles while ensuring their safety and longevity. Caring for your candles will enhance your overall candle-burning experience.
